YSU presents operatic ‘Little Women’

YOUNGSTOWN — Dana School of Music will stage the opera “Little Women” this weekend.

The opera was written by American composer Mark Adamo and is an adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott book of the same name. It’s a coming-of-age story that follows four sisters living in New England during the Civil War.

Cast members include Erika Walker, Canfield; Jaelyn Mack, Dayton; Amanda Bertilacci, Niles; Justine Snowden, Ohioville, Pa.; Trenton Shutters, Jamestown, N.Y.; Emilio Santiago, Hermitage, Pa.; Palmer Stillio, North Huntington, Pa.; Ellie Owen, Fairlawn; Michael Sheely, Mineral Ridge; Antionio George, New Castle, Pa.; Rachel Gardner, Cleveland; Emma Price, New Castle, Pa.; Alana DeBoard, East Liverpool, and Andrew Meyers, Jefferson, OH.

“Little Women” will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Bliss Hall’s Ford Theater.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and YSU alums, $9 YSU faculty and staff and free for YSU students. Tickets are available online at www.ysu.tix.com and by calling 330-941-3105.
