YOUNGSTOWN — Gary Turner, 73, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, at home, with his family.

Gary was born Jan. 26, 1951, in New Middletown, to the late George Ford and Ila Rae Ewing Turner.

He was a man of many hats, starting his career as an EMT with American Ambulance and then becoming a police officer for the Beaver Township Police Department for six years. He worked as a construction project manager for 35 years with Sears and continued working with Dollar General, until his retirement.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, cherishing his retirement with friends and family in Conneaut, Ohio and Santee, South Carolina.

Gary married his beloved wife, Carol Ann Lipply, of Columbiana, on Aug. 18, 1973. They celebrated 35 years together, prior to her passing in 2008.

Gary is survived by his only son, Daniel (Bernadette) Turner of Youngstown, with whom he made his home, along with his grandsons, Daniel Ryan Turner of Youngstown and Bryce Ford Turner, both of whom he cherished with all of his heart. He also leaves his brother, Lester (Debbie) Turner of Maricopa, Arizona.

Gary leaves behind the memories of love, laughter and good times that he shared with many people that became family along the way.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Clemente Funeral Home, 10170 Main St., New Middletown, OH 44442.
