Beach Boys catch a wave to Youngstown

The Beach Boys will be outdoors for a July 2 show at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.

Since the band’s debut single, “Surfin’ Safari,” in 1962, The Beach Boys have had more than 80 songs chart worldwide with 36 of them in the Top 40 in the United States, the most by a U.S. rock band.

The band has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and Rolling Stone magazine ranked the Beach Boys’ “Pet Sounds” at No. 2 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Founding members Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who started with the group in 1965, are joined in the touring band by Tim Bonhomme, Christian Love, Brian Eichenberger, Randy Leago, Keith Hubacher, John Wedemeyer and Jon Bolton.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show range from $38.50 to $126 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Covelli Centre’s Southwoods Health box office and through Ticketmaster. An online-only presale runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m Thursday with the password: KOKOMO.
