TAG to host clay classes

Clay@TAG programming resumes next week with open studio sessions, workshops and hand-building and wheel-throwing classes.

TAG’s Wheel-Throwing Class 1 and 2 returns for four weeks and is designed for both beginners and those who want to learn new skills or brush up on techniques. The Monday afternoon session runs from noon to 3 p.m. from Monday through Sept. 25. The Tuesday evening class runs from 6 to 9 p.m. from Tuesday through Sept. 26. The cost is $100 for TAG members and $120 for nonmembers.

For those who have no clay experience or want to improve their skills, TAG is offering its basics of hand-building class from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 6 to 27. The cost is $70 for TAG members and $80 for non-members.

Four of TAG’s two-session Clay@TAG workshops are scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays: Garden / Holiday Gnomes on Sept. 16 and 30; Holiday Trees on Sept. 23 and Oct. 7; Fall / Holiday Lanterns on Oct. 14 and 28; and Clay Ornaments on Nov. 4 and 18.

During each first session, students will construct the featured item out of stoneware clay which will then be fired. The second session will focus on glazing. The cost for each workshop is $40 for TAG members and $50 for nonmembers.

The six-week open studio series is noon to 3 p.m. Thursdays from Sept. 21 to Oct. 26. These sessions are open to anyone who has clay experience. Participants must sign up for a minimum of three sessions.

Although no instruction will be provided, a studio monitor will be on hand to assist with studio procedures. Tools, materials and kiln firings are included in the fee. Advanced reservations and payments are required. Cost is $25 per session for TAG members and $35 for nonmembers.

All Clay@TAG classes and workshops include tools, materials, glazes and firings and take place at Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., Warren. To register or for more information, call 330-395-4876 or go online to www.trumbullartgallery.com.
