King’s X added to Robins lineup

WARREN — Rock band King’s X is coming to the Robins Theatre on Sept. 8.

King’s X combines progressive metal, funk and soul with vocal arrangements influenced by gospel, blues and British Invasion rock groups. The band was ranked No. 83 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and has released more than a dozen albums. Radio hits include “It’s Love,” “Black Flag” and “Dog Man.”

The trio of Dug Pinnick (bass, vocals), Jerry Gaskill (drums, vocals) and Ty Tabor (guitar, vocals) have played together for more than four decades.

In 2019, author Greg Prato’s book “King’s X: The Oral History” featured testimonials from the likes of Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, Andy Summers of The Police, Scott Ian of Anthrax, Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots, Rex Brown of Pantera and more. Meanwhile, Rolling Stone crowned them “internationally renowned cult heroes,” and Devin Townsend included “Gretchen Goes To Nebraska” on “The 5 Albums That Made Me.”

Tickets range from $40 to $65, plus applicable fees. A presale for Friends of the Robins Theatre members only begins 10 a.m. Thursday, and general public sales begin 10 a.m. Friday at the Robins Theatre box office, 160 E. Market St., or online at www.robins theatre.com.
