Ashtabula Arts Center opens musical, art show

G.B. Community Theatre will stage “Peter Pan the Musical” for a three-weekend run at Ashtabula Arts Center.

The musical by Morris “Moose” Charlap, Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Jule Styne is based on the play by J.M. Barrie. The G.B. Community Theatre production is directed by Christy Seymour and features Bailey Brotz as Peter Pan, Kaitlyn Watson as Wendy Darling and Derek Lebzelter as Captain Hook.

“Peter Pan” will be staged 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through Oct. 24 at AAC, 2928 W. 13th St., Ashtabula. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for students, senior citizens and military and $11 for children ages 2 to 12 if purchased in advance online at ashtabulaartscenter.org and by calling 440-964-3396. Tickets purchased at the door are $17, $15 and $13.

The arts center is requiring all staff and visitors to wear face masks.

The same night “Peter Pan” opens, a reception is planned for “Metamorphosis,” an exhibition by artist Beth Nilges-Nehamkin, which will be on display through October at AAC.

Nilges-Nehamkin graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1976, and the flora and fauna in her work is inspired by her 21 annual trips to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
