TNT moves ‘Looking’ back to Niles

NILES — Trumbull New Theatre is returning to its Niles home for its next production.

The comedy “Looking,” which originally was supposed to open at downtown Warren’s Robins Theatre on May 14, now will open May 13 at TNT’s theater at 5883 Youngstown-Warren Road.

Ben Gavitt, director of the play, said he was informed Wednesday the show would not be done at the Robins due to poor ticket sales.

“We’re still three weeks out,” Gavitt said. “Because it’s not a well-known popular comedy, they’re afraid it might not bring in a big group.”

Sunrise Entertainment operates the Robins, and Sunrise President Ken Haidaris said, “The costs of doing it here are higher. If they’re selling 300, 400 tickets, this is the place to be, but that’s not a concern.”

Capacity will be limited to 40 people per performance at TNT due to current COVID-19 protocols. Because of the small capacity, TNT is adding a 7:30 p.m. performance on May 13. However, the run cannot be extended beyond May 16.

“Looking” is a four-character comedy by Norm Foster about people looking for love. The cast features Brian Suchora, Roz Blystone, Herb Everman and Joy Schuyler.

Tickets already purchased for the Robins will be honored at TNT. Tickets at TNT are $15 and can be purchased online any time at trumbull newtheatre.tix.com and by calling the TNT box office between 7 and 9 p.m. weekdays at 330-652-1103.
