Lit Youngstown has memoirist and poet

Cris Harris and Kellie Kirksey will be featured at Lit Youngstown’s next First Wednesday Readers Series event.

Harris lives on the remnant of a 100-year-old dairy farm in Madison Township. He is the author of “I Have Not Loved You With My Whole Heart,” a memoir about growing up in a household wrestling with faith, addiction, violence and the AIDS epidemic.

He teaches writing and experiential education at an independent school outside of Cleveland. Harris received an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for nonfiction, and his essays have appeared at Post Road, Proximity Magazine, The New Engagement, Nowhere Magazine and the Indiana Review.

Kirksey of Cleveland is a global traveler, speaker, poet, tree hugger, yoga teacher, holistic psychotherapist, family lover, drummer, dancer, spa promoter, heart-centered hypnotherapist, live-happily life consultant, essential oil enthusiast and wellness promoter. She has presented workshops and wellness circles both nationally and internationally.

The program starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday and will be livestreamed on Lit Youngstown’s Facebook page. Johanna Slivinske will co-host the free reading and emcee the open mic. To access the event via Zoom and participate in the open mic, go to www.LitYoungstown.org for the Zoom link.
