Cheech & Chong will light up Packard

Comedy duo Cheech & Chong will perform at Packard Music Hall on Oct. 1, 2021.

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong released several top-selling comedy albums in the ’70s that spawned such radio hits as “Santa Claus and His Old Lady,” “Basketball Jones featuring Tyrone Shoelaces,” “Sister Mary Elephant” and “Earache My Eye.”

That success led to the film “Up in Smoke” and a half-dozen other movies starring the duo between 1978 and 1985.

Separately, the two have had extensive acting careers, particularly Marin, who was a regular on “Nash Bridges,” had a recurring role on “Lost” and supporting roles in such films as “Spy Kids,” “Tin Cup” and “Once Upon a Time in Mexico.”

Chong had a recurring role on “That ’70s Show” and has appeared in other films and television series. He also penned a New York Times best seller “The I Chong: Meditations from the Joint,” and he started a successful business selling glass pipes / bongs.

The show also will feature Chong’s wife, Shelby Chong, who appeared in “Cheech & Chong’s Next Movie,” “Nice Dreams” and other Cheech & Chong films.

Tickets range from $42.75 to $92.75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday online only through Ticketmaster.
