Illustrator to speak on Anne Frank children’s book

Canfield native Erika Steiskal will discuss her creative process in illustrating “Anne Frank and the Remembering Tree” at two events on Monday.

The children’s book written by Sandy Eisenberg Sasso tells the story of Anne Frank, who loved a tree and the tree who promised never to forget her. Steiskal, who now lives in Seattle, said she hopes her talks raise awareness, especially with children, of the Holocaust and its important place in history.” Steiskal earned a bachelor of fine arts in illustration from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus and studied at the Illustration Academy at Ringling College of Art and Design.

Programs are scheduled at noon Monday the Austintown branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 600 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown, and at 6 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. Admission is free.
