Floyd and Dee Welker of North Lima recently celebrated 65 years of marriage with a family dinner at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, with nearly 50 family members in attendance.
The couple was married June 28, 1958, in Boardman, followed by a garden reception at the bride's parents' residence.
They have lived in North Lima community their entire marriage and are members of Paradise Church of Christ.
Floyd is retired from Plexco Pipe company, where he was assistant superintendent, advancing to superintendent, and traveled throughout the United States. He was a volunteer firefighter for several years before serving as assistant fire chief for nine years. He also served as a Beaver Township trustee for 12 years.
As a homemaker raising four daughters, Dee eventually went to work for and retired from South Range School in 2000, after serving in the cafeteria for more than 20 years. She then volunteered at Salem Hospital for an additional 13 years.
The Welkers continue to serve the community as volunteer members of 3 C's, members of Canfield AARP, supporters of the South Range Raiders and followers of local country music jams.
Floyd and Dee had five children, David (deceased at birth), Joann (Neil) Maxwell, Susan (Mike, deceased) Kenney, Karen (Paul) Landis and Connie (Tom) Young; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The Welkers have consistently enjoyed countless events over the years, attending functions for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
