Anthony F. and Marie A. Belfast of Canfield celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Nov. 18, 2022.

Tony and the former Marie Napolitano were united in marriage Nov. 18, 1972, at St. Christine Roman Catholic Church in Youngstown after graduating from Youngstown State University.

Mr. Belfast, the son of the late Frank and Leona Belfast of Boardman, is a geotechnical engineer and founded Geotechnics Inc. in San Diego. Prior to his engineering career, he was a naturalist in Mill Creek Park.

Mrs. Belfast, the daughter of the late Frank and Pauline Napolitano of Austintown, is a retired middle school science teacher. She worked for Boardman Local Schools, the Diocese of San Diego, and Escondido, Calif., schools.

The couple have three children, Aaron, Jesse and Julie Belfast and three grandchildren.

After residing in southern California for 35 years, the couple retired to Canfield in 2016. They belong to the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Youngstown.

Besides enjoying their children, family and friends living nearby, they enjoy visiting their Texas family. Also, Mrs. Belfast enjoys volunteering with The Ohio State University Master Gardener Volunteers program, and Mr. Belfast is an avid photographer whose work has been featured by The Nature Conservancy.
