Richard and Mary Helena Balog of Poland celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 15, 2020.

Richard and Mary Helena were married Oct. 15, 1960, at Immaculate Conception Church.

After meeting at Mc- Kelvey’s Department Store in Youngstown, Richard attended a party at Mary Helena’s house, and the rest is history.

Richard and Mary Helena both graduated from Youngstown city high schools, Wilson High and North High, respectively.

He retired from General Motors Corp. Lordstown Complex, and she retired from Youngstown City Schools, having lived in Youngstown their entire careers.

The couple have four children, Theresa, Rick, Nancy and Wendy; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Their children say their parents always shared the importance of family and church. They created a house filled with love and developed a family bond which will continue for generations to come.

The whole family will join them for a private family gathering to celebrate this momentous occasion at the Avion on the Water Banquet Center.
