John and Lillian Sefcik of Boardman celebrated their 65th anniversary on May 21, 2020.

John Sefcik and the former Lillian Hodos were married on that day in 1955 at St. Matthias Church in Youngstown, where they are lifelong parishioners.

Both graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and John served in the Korean War prior to their marriage.

They settled on Youngstown’s South Side, where Lillian was a homemaker and John worked at Compco Metal Products, retiring in 1999.

The couple raised two daughters, Carol (John) Ginty of Olmsted Township and Marlene (Patrick) Sfara of Boardman. They have five grandchildren, and seven great-granddaughters and one great-grandson, all under 5 years old, with whom they are very involved.

They loved to dance and bowled on several leagues. John was an avid golfer playing for many years in the YMCA League. Now they enjoy a night of playing cards with the family.

An anniversary celebration will be held at a later date when COVID-19 restrictions are eased.
