Some stars’ light doesn’t shine bright in person

Have you ever wondered what your favorite celebrity, musician, actor or otherwise famous person would be like if you met them face to face?

I recently read a story that included a ton of comments from regular old Joes and Josephines like you and me. Its focus was on their encounters with well-known humans.

Superstars, if you will.

It went on to describe various personal accounts from ordinary peeps of what occurred when they met their favorite — in some cases maybe now formerly favorite — celebrities, et al.

I half-heartedly kept reading even though I almost scrolled past it because a big part of me did NOT want to know that Bill Nye “The Science Guy” is, according to one person, a total schmuck in real life.

Sigh.

Bill Nye, the “he-thinks-he’s more-important-than-he-actually-is” guy.

A former fan who met the faux professor said of him: “Many individuals I’ve worked with have personally known him and said he was a manhole.”

OK, I changed that last word. You can imagine what last word really was.

Another A-Lister getting bad grades from her followers is Zooey Deschanel, star of “New Girl.” Apparently, an extra who worked with her on the set found her to be extremely unpleasant.

“I’m sorry to say it but she was just, mean!” he said.

Sheesh, Zooey! I thought you were so adorable in “Elf” and everything.

Hmpf.

Then there’s the one that really hurts…

Apparently, Disney Channel’s Hilary Duff is well-known for having hissy fits. Maybe we should just refer to her as Hilary Huff?

Say it ain’t so, Lizzie McGuire!

“One of my friends is a flight attendant and met her onboard. She said she was a total diva,” claims an anonymous source.

Aw, man!

Another comment may not come as a TOTAL shock to most of us:

“I met Mariah Carey when she came to my workplace once and she was a NIGHTMARE the entire time.”

You may recall her not-so-rocking New Year’s Eve performance when she was caught red-handed. Or should I say, lip-handed?

In 2016, Mariah Carey encountered a lip-sync mishap that she said was due to “technical difficulties.” After her song and voice began filling the air prior to her picking up the microphone, she walked off the stage, grumbling something about a series of glitches.

But the truth is, she got busted for lip-synching instead of, ya know, actually singing. Hmpf. So disappointing.

Takes my mind to a few occasions on which old PK met some heavy hitters. These include meeting Joe Elliott and Phil Collen of the rock band “Def Leppard,” and being introduced to everyone’s favorite master of Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffet.

I will say this: two outta three were fab. And I’m not bitter about the third. Really. I’m not.

P.S. Hey Joe, 1984 called, it wants your hairdo back.

Kimrerer is still smarting over getting blown off by Def Leppard lead singer Joe Elliott. Whatevs. Tell her about your brushes with greatness via pkimerer@zoom internet.net.
