Med Instead of Meds

Eating healthier doesn't have to mean giving up good food. The Ohio State University Extension, Mahoning County, is inviting area residents to explore a simple and satisfying approach to healthy eating through its upcoming Med Instead of Meds in-person class series.

The five-part series will introduce participants to the Mediterranean way of eating and provide practical tips, recipes and "life hacks" that can be incorporated into everyday meals.

The program focuses on seven simple steps to help participants "Go Med" and make the Mediterranean way of eating a regular part of their lifestyle.

Classes will be 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays, Sept. 11 through Oct. 9, at OSU Extension Mahoning County office, 490 S. Broad Street, Canfield.

Each session will focus on a different aspect of the Mediterranean way of eating:

• Sept. 11 -- Introducing the Mediterranean Way of Eating

• Sept. 18 -- Swap Your Fats

• Sept. 25 -- Eat More Fruits and Vegetables

• Oct. 2 -- Change Your Protein

• Oct. 9 -- Rethink Your Sweets

The cost for the series is $20. Registration is available by calling 330-533-5538.
