DISPOSAL BAGS AT LIBRARIES: Mahoning County Public Health, in partnership with the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, distributed Deterra Drug Disposal Bags at various library locations. A limited supply will be available at each library location and one bag will be permitted per family. Safely deactivate and dispose of unneeded pills, patches, liquids, creams and films at home. Unneeded medications can be disposed of at permanent drop-off locations in the lobbies of various local law enforcement agencies and pharmacies.

3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday — Needles Eye Christian Life Center, 74 Kenmore Ave., Youngstown. This event includes a Narcan training beginning at 5 p.m.

HOSPICE WORKSHOPS: Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice-Greater Youngstown will host two hospice workshops, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Sept. 25, at the Eastwood Event Centre in Niles. The free workshops, which count also toward continuing education credits, are designed for medical professionals and individual caregivers and will feature focused presentations and panel sessions about a variety of end-of-life care topics. Lunch will be provided for both sessions.

MERCY HEALTH’S HOSPICE: Mercy Health’s Hospice of the Valley is seeking new volunteers to join its team. The upcoming volunteer training classes will equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to support patients, families and staff during challenging times. There are multiple training opportunities available in the coming months. Attendance on all scheduled dates is required for each session.
Training classes will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Aug. 15 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 251 S Broadway Ave., Salem. Training also will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 and 26, at the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland.
