Growing-degree days
What: Join Master Gardener Volunteers on the second Tuesday of every month for a Garden Speaker Series, and to assist with and discuss garden-related topics.

Vegetable gardening
What: Join the Trumbull County Master Gardener Volunteers to learn all about vegetable gardening. Come back in May to learn about fertilizers.

Fishing at Lake Milton
What: Join Trish Guenther, an active birder and member of the Audubon Mahoning Valley Society, to discover how different birds use different techniques and physical adaptations to gather their food from the lake. The Naturalist Series invites subject matter experts to share their knowledge and research regarding different aspects of nature. Subjects range from animals, plants, insects and more. All these events are $5 ($30 for the whole series).

Garden spaces
What: Learn about "Creating Outdoor Rooms with Plants and Evergreens to Envy." Breakouts include top 10 things for soils in spring; composting; houseplants and tropicals; and garden art options of ink tiles or a garden rug. Handmade garden art and garden treasures will be for sale during the event.

Fruit tree pruning clinic
What: Learn how to prune apples and peaches at the farm. This class will feature demonstrations by Eric Barrett of the OSU Extension, and Dave and David Hull of White House Fruit Farm. Bring a lawn chair for seating.

Perennials and containers
What: The best plants in the best locations are the focus of this daylong seminar. Pam Bennett, OSU Extension, will share the "New and Tried-and-True in the Perennial World" and Laura Deeter, OSU horticulture, will speak on "Captivating Containers." Breakouts include cut-flower gardens; soils; a garden walkabout with pruning; and garden art options of ink tiles or a garden journal.
