Landscape pruning clinics

What: Mahoning County Extension Educator Eric Barrett discusses pruning the landscape. The clinic will start inside, covering tools and overall pruning concepts. Then the class will move outside to do some pruning.

When: 2 or 6 p.m. today

Urban fruit tree pruning clinic

What: Mahoning County Extension Educator Eric Barrett will discuss pruning young trees in the orchard. Topics will cover specific pruning cuts, fruit loads, mulching, staking, tree care and other topics. The focus is urban apple production.

Peek inside vernal pools

What: Join OSU’s Marne Titchenell for an exploration of woodland vernal pools and the life inside them. This program will discuss the Ohio’s frogs, toads and salamanders that can be found in and around vernal pools. Learn to ID frog calls, salamander species and explore the world of macroinvertebrates (fairy shrimp, caddisflies and more).

Chestnuts

Winter seminar

What: Join the Gardeners of Greater Youngstown for their annual winter seminar. Topics will include House Plant Care, Plants for Diverse Locations, Must Have Plants for 2023 and Basic Soil Science. The daylong event includes meals and a basket raffle.
