TAXAIDE OFFERS FREE PREPARATION: AARP TaxAide will provide free federal and state tax preparation this year for low- to moderate-income seniors and individuals.

Taxpayer’s appointments are made in person only. The sites for this year are:

•Tuesday and Thursday — Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., Girard. Appointment required, 330-545-6596;

• Monday and Wednesday — Liberty Township Administration Building, 1315 Churchill Hubbard Road, Liberty Township. Appointments for Liberty are made at the Hubbard Library, 436 W. Liberty St., Hubbard (no phone calls). The Hubbard Library will not prepare tax returns on site in 2023;

•Friday — Niles SCOPE, 14 E. State St., Niles. Appointment required, 330-574-2888.

PERI TO MEET: The Public Employee Retirees of Mahoning County Chapter 18 will meet for a noon luncheon Feb. 7 at the Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 Western Reserve Road, Canfield. NEW PROGRAM FROM ONEHEALTH OHIO: ONE Health Ohio is launching its new program, Platinum Health, at its Lloyd McCoy location. Platinum Health is a program designed with seniors in mind. The goal at Platinum Health is to provide a comprehensive approach to healthcare by combining medical, dental, behavioral health, physical therapy, and other services all in one location.

ONE Health Ohio is a Certified Patient-Centered Medical Home that provides comprehensive healthcare services, such as medical, dental and behavioral health, across seven health centers located in Youngstown, Warren, Newton Falls, Cortland and Alliance, and four RISE Recovery Outpatient Addiction Treatment centers in Youngstown, Warren, Newton Falls and Alliance.

LONG-TERM CARE: A Place For Mom helps people find a place for their parents when the parents need long-term care. A Place For Mom gives families both personal and professional help as they look for care options for their elderly loved ones. The service is free for families. CAREGIVER PROGRAM: The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter has a new caregiver relief program called The Jan and Josephine Castora Family Caregiver Relief Program, which pays for agency caregivers to assist families needing help caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.

SENIOR VOLUNTEERS: The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of the Mahoning Valley is looking for volunteers. For information, contact Leah at 330-480-0352, Ext. 3. RSVP is a national service program for individuals 55 and older who want to volunteer in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. These volunteers also will assist with community events.

JCC MEAL PROGRAM: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown and Jewish Family and Community Services offer fully prepared, frozen meals to anyone in Mahoning and Trumbull counties for home delivery or pick-up. The kosher-style meals are cooked by JCC staff and include an entree and two sides. The cost per meal is $6, with a five-meal minimum.

SSAG NEEDS VOLUNTEERS: The Senior Support Action Group, a nonprofit program that provides services to homebound seniors 55 and older in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, is seeking both clients and volunteers.

The program provides monthly food box deliveries, phone pals and transportation to medical appointments.

SENIOR RESOURCE FAIR: Park Vista and Senior Support Action Group will host a Senior Health and Resource Fair 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Park Vista, 1216 Fifth Ave, Youngstown. More than 20 senior-serving organizations will present their information. Hot chocolate and doughnuts will be served. Health screenings will be conducted and door prizes given.

The Senior Support Action Group is a volunteer-based program that provides services to homebound seniors in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana County. The group provides monthly food boxes, transportation to medical appointments, and a phone pals companionship program.

PROGRAM FOR SENIORS: ACTION and MYCAP, along with Christ Centered Church, host Seniors Offering Services for men and women 65 and older. Three days a week, seniors participate in virtual programs of exercise, classes, games, community awareness, healthy cooking, chit-chat and humor, among other things. Once per week, lunch will be delivered.
