ADVENT SPEAKER SERIES: The St. Charles Borromeo Parish faith formation committee will hold an Advent speaker series 7:40 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Matthew Room at the church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman. The speaker who will share her story is Anne Kravitz.

FELLOWSHIP ADORATION: St. Dominic Parish, 77 E Lucius Ave., Youngstown, will hold Frassati Fellowship Adoration and meeting 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Thursdays Dec. 19 and Jan 2. Adoration will be 7 p.m. at the Lady Altar in the Church.

CANTATA OF PEACE: Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, will hold a Songs Heard Round the World — A Cantata of Peace and Unity 10:30 a.m. Dec. 22.

Master harpist Kirk Kupensky will present Music of the Season 12:45 p.m. Sunday at the church as part of Westminster’s Chapel Concert Series. Kupensky has performed as recitalist and concerto soloist in the U.S. and in Europe. The concert is free. Call 330-758-4513.

OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS: Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, will hold an Old-Fashioned Christmas with a singalong and judged chili contest 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Peanut butter is being collected for the Lifelines Missions Haiti Project.

HOLIDAY CONCERT: Zion Hill Church of the Bethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road, Columbiana, will host God’s Quad Quartet in concert 6 p.m. Sunday. The concert is free.

HEAVEN’S GLORY: Hubbard Church of the Nazarene Christmas Choir, will hold Messiah Heaven’s Glory 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, 1815 Cherry Lane Drive SW. The program will open with special music by pianists, 7-year-old Isabella Hugliand and 9-year-old Isaac Hugli. The event is free and open to the public. No offering will be taken.

ADVENT SERIES: Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive, Youngstown, will hold Advent and Christmas worship10:30 a.m. Sunday and Dec. 22.

BLUE CHRISTMAS: First Presbyterian Church, 28 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, wilt hold a Blue Christmas 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for those who struggle with the holiday.

ONCE UPON A MATTRESS: Ursuline High School will present “Once Upon a Mattress” at the Diebel Morley Arts Center at the Ursuline campus 7 p.m. today and Sunday. Tickets are $12 adults and $6 students. The play is a musical comedy written as an adaption of the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tales “The Princess and the Tea.”

RECONCILIATION SERVICE: St. Joseph Parish in Austintown will hold a communal Sacrament of Reconciliation 2 p.m. Sunday. The service is an opportunity for individuals to experience God’s rich mercy as a community of believers. There will be song, scripture readings, reflections, and holiday reconciliation of sins.

BREAK THROUGH THE DARKNESS: Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Cornersburg, will hold a Break-Through the Darkness 2 p.m. Sunday. The event is a non-denominational service for families and friends of loved ones who have died.

HANUKKAH CELEBRATION: A community pre-Hanukkah celebration will be held 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Rodef Shalom Temple, 1119 Elm St, Youngstown. The event will feature magician and illusionist David Anthony.

METAPHYSICS: Unity Spiritual Centre in Liberty will hold a session to discuss topics for 2020 at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a planning session and try to accommodate everyone’s interests throughout the year. January 2020 is reincarnation on a theoretical level, February will extend this into past life regression, near death experiences, on a more practical level. INTERFAITH CHOIR: Simple Gifts Interfaith Choir is planning a performance with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra for March 2020. The 80-voice choir will perform in collaboration with Singers Together and The Youngstown Connection for the YSO’s program titled, “Spiritual Journey: The Road to Peace and Freedom,” featuring world-renowned tenor Lawrence Brownlee.

Simple Gifts Interfaith Choir is comprised of singers from Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Portage counties, as well as Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. All singers are welcome to participate.
