CARE SEMINAR: The Alzheimer Network will present a seminar on legal and financial issues regarding long-term care often associated with Alzheimer’s disease, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Boardman Public Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave.
Presenters will be Judge Robert Rusu of the Mahoning County Probate Court and attorney Charlene Burke, a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Handouts will be provided.

ALZHEIMER NETWORK: The Alzheimer Network’s second of two workshops to prepare families to deal with the changes brought by the disease will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Canfield Library, 43 W. Main St. This session guides caregivers in learning to cope with the impact the disease ultimately has on their own lives.

EASTERSEALS ACCREDITED: CARF International announced that Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties has been accredited for a period of three years for its Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation, Community Center for the Deaf Vocational Services and Adult Day Services.
The latest accreditation is a three-year accreditation that the international accrediting body, CARF, has given to Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties. Easterseals has been accredited continuously for 30 years.

FREE SCREENINGS: Mercy Health and Grace African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) Nursing Guild are sponsoring free health screenings 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren City Health District, 258 E. Market St., 3rd floor, Warren.
Men 40 and older can have their prostate blood work performed by Mercy Health for PSA’s and DRE’s (most commonly used to screen for prostate cancer) will be done by the NEO Urology Group. Individuals can also receive blood work for total cholesterol and HbA1c to determine their risk for diabetes or heart disease. Call 330-480-3405 to register for the blood work.
The Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center Mammovan will be on site to screen women for breast canceer. Call 330-480-2654 to register. Other screenings will be available that day as well. Those who have blood work done will receive dinner.
KIDNEY WALK AND PICNIC: The Eastern Regional Kidney Foundation is planning its main fundraiser for 2019 with the ninth annual Kidney Awareness Walk and Renal Family Picnic to raise money to support the grants and education. It is set Sunday at the Canfield Fairgrounds. There will be baskets to raffle, a 50-50 raffle, a continental breakfast, vendors, information and a picnic lunch after the walk. Registration starts at 9 a.m., the walk starts at 11 a.m. and lunch starts at noon.
