Liberty native Bob DiPiero brings his American Made Singer-Songwriter Series to Youngstown State University.
The concert will feature DiPiero and some of his fellow country songwriters performing some of the tracks they've written and sharing the stories behind their creation.
DiPiero is a YSU graduate who moved to Nashville in 1978. He's written more than 1,200 songs that have been recorded by other artists and penned 15 number one country hits, including the Oak Ridge Boys' "American Made," Reba McEntire's "I Can See Forever in Your Eyes" and "Little Rock," George Strait's "Blue Clear Sky," Tim McGraw's "Southern Voice" and Easton Corbin's "Lovin' You Is Fun."
His song "Coming Home" from the "Country Strong" soundtrack was nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe, and DiPiero is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Joining him will be Blessing Offor and JT Harding. Offor is a Nashville-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who gained national attention as a contestant on season seven of "The Voice." His work has earned two Grammy nominations.
Harding has written number one songs for Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Dierks Bentley as well as "Smile" with Uncle Kracker, which sold three million copies.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bliss Hall's Ford Theater. All proceeds benefit COMPASS Family & Community Services and the Sojourner House domestic violence program operated by COMPASS.
Tickets are $75 and are available online at ysu.tix.com. It's made possible with support from Hometown Pharmacy and the YSU Cliffe College of Creative Arts.
