"The Edgar Allan Poe Afterlife Radio Show" opens Friday at ACTS Performing Arts Center.
The play by Patrick Greene and Jason Pizzarello tells four classic Poe tales -- "The Cask of Amontillado," "The Fall of the House of Usher," "The Raven" and "The Tell-Tale Heart" presented from an otherworldly radio studio, complete with commercial breaks between the stories.
In her director notes, Maria Petrella-Ackley writes, "Poe was more than an author of darkness; he was an architect of our fascination with the forbidden and the fearful."
The cast features Thomas Morelli, Miranda Woge, Valerie Amrhein, Susan Woge, Molly Wrigley, Brandi Baros, Bhyan Kirsch, Alan Frank, Liam Fiest, Tina Greig, Anna Krasgrow and Ben Houston.
It will be performed on ACTS's 40 Below stage, 40 S. Irvine Ave., Sharon, Pa. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday through Nov. 8. Tickets are $22.50 adults and $17.50 students and are available online at www.actspac.org and at the door. For more information, call 724-815-4388.
