LAEM CHABANG, Thailand (AP) — The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier arrived in eastern Thailand early Wednesday after its grueling deployment in the Middle East. Associated Press journalists watched the Lincoln, which is carrying about 5,000 service members, approach Laem Chabang port in Chonburi province shortly after the destroyer USS Frank E. McDonald man gets 3 years for stealing copper, other materials

WARREN — Brian J. Clay, 52, of West Fifth Street in McDonald, was sentenced to three years in prison Monday after being found guilty at trial of being a felon in possession of a firearm, misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor possessing criminal tools for stealing copper and other materials from a McDonald business. Clay’s trial lasted one day before Judge Cynthia Westcott of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. The jury deliberated about 30 minutes before announcing its verdict. Auditor seeks equipment for Trumbull IT

WARREN — Trumbull County Auditor Martha Yoder is asking county commissioners to provide an estimated $125,000 to replace equipment needed by the county’s Information Technology department. YOUNGSTOWN — When Akiva Academy middle schoolers return to classes Sept. 8, they will do so in a brand new school. An open house and ribbon cutting took place Monday morning at the Altschuler Akiva Academy Goldstone-Mirkin Family Middle School at the Suzi Solomon Campus.
