PARIS (AP) — Two thieves sliced through a fence, climbed through a window and stole four valuable Renoir paintings Tuesday from a small museum on the French Riviera, but abandoned two of the artworks as they fled, authorities said. Girard seeks new safety service director

GIRARD — City officials are in the process of finding a safety service director as Glenn Holmes — who has been serving in the position since last spring — has submitted his resignation. Mayor Mark Zuppo said Tuesday that Holmes will be leaving Oct. 1 for personal reasons. Zuppo said while the city is looking for a replacement, Zachary Teter, who serves as the city’s new engineer, will take on the duties of the service director. CANFIELD — Patrick Havas, who is alleged to have lunged at Amy Acton, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, during an incident Sunday afternoon at the Canfield Fair, did not commit any offenses that rise to felonies, Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro said.
