Mathews boys basketball coach Weymer resigns

Mathews boys basketball coach Michael Weymer’s resignation was accepted during Wednesday’s Mathews Board of Education meeting. The motion to approve said resignation passed unanimously. Weymer coached the Mustangs for nine seasons, recording a final record of 137-78. In those nine seasons, Mathews finished above .500 in each. The team’s best was a 25-2 campaign during the 2021-22 season, when the Mustangs won a district title. When asked about the resignation, Board of Education president Joel Polonus declined to comment.
