City, JAC seek coordinator for Wean Park Complex

YOUNGSTOWN — The city of Youngstown and JAC Management Group is again looking to hire a community engagement and inclusion coordinator for the Wean Park Complex. The complex is a 22-acre riverfront entertainment area including Wean Park, the Covelli Centre, Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre and Huntington Bank Community Alley. This is a subcontracted position under JAC Management — which operates the complex for the city — with an annual salary of $40,000 and no benefits. Man suffers gunshot wound on Youngstown’s South Side

YOUNGSTOWN — A man was shot in the arm at a home on East Lucius Avenue on the South Side at 10:19 p.m. Thursday. Youngstown police officers applied a tourniquet to the man’s arm to stop the bleeding when they arrived. Officers were called to the home for a shooting and made contact with the victim in a bedroom. NC man gets 5 to 7 1/2 years in prison in fatal Coitsville crash

YOUNGSTOWN — Robert C. Powell, 25, of North Carolina, who was working in the Youngstown area when he struck a car in the intersection of U.S. Route 422 and North Hubbard Road in Coitsville Township, killing its driver, was sentenced recently to 5 to 7 1/2 years in prison. Powell gets credit for 67 days already spent in the Mahoning County jail. Powell was convicted at trial of aggravated vehicular homicide, a second-degree felony, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and misdemeanor OVI.
