Suspect in South Side attempted murder case enters not guilty plea by reason of insanity

YOUNGSTOWN — The attorney for James Sunderman, 19, of Hayes Avenue in McDonald, filed a written not guilty by reason of insanity plea Monday to attempted murder, felonious assault and kidnapping in a May incident on Youngstown’s South Side. Sunderman was arraigned Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, with Magistrate Nicole Butler continuing the $200,000 bond set in May for Sunderman in Youngstown Municipal Court. Weathersfield resident loses home to fire

WEATHERSFIELD — Township fire officials are investigating the cause of a Monday house fire in the 2700 block of Anderson Morris Road that left a resident homeless. Fire crews from Weathersfield were called out Monday to the fire in a second floor bedroom and attic area of the 3.5-floor house. Fire Chief Tom Lambert said the owner was in a bedroom when she saw smoke and was able to get out of the house without injury. Intervention sought in SOBE rate increase

The Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel filed a motion to intervene on behalf of SOBE Thermal Energy Systems LLC’s residential customers in downtown Youngstown in front of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, which granted the troubled utility company a huge rate increase.
