Fund for Women & Girls honors five as ‘Gems of the Valley’

The Fund for Women & Girls, a community-led fund at the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, put the spotlight on the work of five incredible women at its Gems of the Valley event on Oct. 16. The honor recognizes women doing important work to make the Valley a better place for all, especially when that work is overlooked or underappreciated. Social impact funding to help Youngstown entrepreneurs tackle health barriers

In an effort to reduce the social and economic barriers that prevent longer, healthier lives in the greater Youngstown region, the American Heart Association has announced two social enterprises as the recipients of its Social Impact Funds. The Association, devoted to changing the future to a world of healthier lives for all, has distributed $200,000 through its Social Impact Funds, thanks to local funding from FirstEnergy Foundation.
