ELLSWORTH — A motorcyclist was hurt after his bike struck two calves Monday near the intersection of U.S. Route 224 and Gault Road.

James Lauer, 62, of Canfield, was headed westbound about 5:10 a.m. when his Harley Davidson struck and killed the two animals in the road.

Lauer was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with nonlife threatening injuries, according to a dispatcher with the Canfield post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He was not cited, the report states.
