Former YSU receiver waived

Former Youngstown State wide receiver Jermiah Braswell was waived by the Arizona Cardinals just days after Braswell was charged with an OVI in Put-in-Bay.

Braswell, 23, veered of an embankment, down the shoreline and into the water off South Bass Island, according to reports. The crash happened Friday around 6:30 p.m.

His Chevy Camaro was in the water and Braswell was in the driver’s seat attempting to drive forward when officers approached, according to the police report. Braswell submitted to field sobriety tests and was then arrested. He is facing OVI charges after he agreed to blow into a portable breath test, which showed his blood alcohol content exceeded Ohio’s legal limit.

Braswell led the Penguins in receiving as a senior last year, catching 24 passes for 515 yards and seven touchdowns. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cardinals in April.
