Capsules: Canfield routs East, Springfield wins 7th straight
Canfield 35, East 16: The Cardinals ran for 223 yards and found the end zone four times on the ground to cruise past East. Mike Crawford led the way with 77 yards and two touchdowns while Broc Lowry was efficient through the air, completing 7 of 9 passes for 90 yards.
Springfield 42, Western Reserve 0: The Tigers kept their winning-streak alive, extending it to 7 with a dominant performance over the Blue Devils. Beau Brungard threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns while adding two more scores on the ground to go with 128 rushing yards on nine carries.
Liberty 53, Newton Falls 19: The LEopards got a big performance from their freshman quarterback as D.C. Ferrell threw for 196 yards and four touchdowns while adding 100 yards and a score on the ground. Chris Cunningham also caught five passes for 138 yards and three touchdowns.
South Range 63, Jefferson 21: After the Falcons made it a game early, the Raiders pulled away to keep their undefeated season alive. Dylan Dominguez rushed or 185 yards and four touchdowns on 9 carries and Billy Skripac completed eight of his nine passes for 176 yards and a touchdown.
Poland 40, Lakeview 0: Jack Fulton passed for 63 yards and threw for 79 as Poland coach Tom Pavlansky earned a win over his former team Friday night. Dillon Smith also rushed for 38 yards including a 16 yard score.
Austintown Fitch 38, Wadsowrth 28: After trailing at halftime, the Falcons took advantage of a three score fourth quarter to top the Grizzlies Friday night. Devin Sherwood threw for 242 yards and two scores while Cam Smith caught five passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. Sherwood also rushed for two scores.
West Branch 50, Alliance 24: Dru DeSheilds threw for 185 yards and two scores while adding 251 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as the Warriors scored all of their points in the first half to earn a 23 point victory. Steven MArra also rushed for 74 yards and two scores in the win.
Mineral Ridge 40, Sebring 6: Mark Bunch threw for 101 yards and rushed for 63 yards and three touchdowns as the Rams routed the Trojans. Aaron Myers also caught 3 passes for 66 yards and a score in the win while Nathan Rohrman rushed 11 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
Lisbon 19, Leetonia 19: All scoring came in the second half, but Lisbon scored the final 13 points to earn a big win. Jake McCool rushed for 169 yards and a score in the loss.
Chaney 32, Howland 21: The Cowboys took the early lead, scoring 14 unanswered in the first quarter, and never looked back to take down the Tigers Friday night. Matthew Jones completed 6-of-10 passed for 122 yards and one touchdown while rushined for 108 and three.
Niles 21, Struthers 14: Antuan Gardner rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns as the Red Dragons topped the Wildcats. Alec Gryzb threw for 114 yards for Struthers while Tyler Sanchez rushed for 103.
