Girard names Perez coach
GIRARD — Girard High School named former local soccer star Seyla Perez as its new girls high school soccer coach on Wednesday at a board of education meeting.
Perez, a 2014 Howland graduate, played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh and then one final season at Cleveland State University. She was a two-time all-Ohio selection at Howland and helped the Tigers reach the regional final as a junior.
A two-time district player of the year, this is Perez’s first head coaching job. She takes over for former coach Kayla Richey.
