Lakeview boys head to bowling state tournament

Lakeview led a contingent of five area schools in the Division II boys bowling district tournament at Lorain, finishing fourth and qualifying for the state tournament.

The Bulldogs will be joined in the state event by Champion senior Matthew Angell who qualified as an individual.

The Division II boys state tournament is scheduled Feb. 27 (girls roll Feb. 26) at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl in Columbus.

Struthers placed eighth among 13 teams, LaBrae was 10th, Hubbard 12th and Brookfield 13th. The top four teams and individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to Columbus.

Angell rolled a 746 qualifying series as the runner-up, trailing district champion Ryan Hanzak of NDCL by 24 pins.

Lakeview was led by Conner Pawlosky who was 13th in the qualifying standings with a 622 series, and Charles Pawlosky, who finished tied for 19th with a 592.

Two other area bowlers were in the top 20, Struthers senior Jared Medvec who was ninth with a 655, just 16 pins behind the fourth and final individual qualifier.

DJ Kiskadden, a senior from Brookfield, placed 17th with a 601.

The Division II girls district is scheduled today, also at Lorain. The Division I district competition is scheduled Sunday (boys) and Monday (girls) at Freeway Lanes in Warren.
