Irish, EP, Leetonia advance

¯ URSULINE 62, CAMPBELL 18: YOUNGSTOWN — Ursuline took a 29-4 first-quarter lead and cruised past Campbell in a Division III sectional first round matchup.

The Irish (9-14) had three players in double figures, led by Anisah Moorman’s 18 points. Rachel Fabry and Paris Gilmore added 13 points apiece. Ursuline shot 27-of-55 from the field and led 48-12 at halftime.

India Armour-Clark paced Campbell with eight.

¯ UNITED 41, SPRINGFIELD 29: HANOVERTON — The eighth-seeded Tigers put a little scare into the host Golden Eagles before ninth-seeded United closed with a 15-7 scoring push in the fourth quarter.

Springfield trailed 24-9 at intermission before closing to within 26-22 entering the last eight minutes.

Jacey Mullen scored 13 points and Kylee Kosek added seven for Springfield, which finished 10-12.

Bailey Boozs scored 16 points for United, which plays at top-seeded Liberty in a sectional bracket final Saturday.

¯ EAST PALESTINE 58, WATERLOO 50: EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine won a back-and-forth battle with the Vikings, holding on after taking a big first-quarter lead.

The Bulldogs were up, 21-11, after the first 8 minutes, but Waterloo rallied to cut the deficit to 29-26 by halftime. Morgan Rutledge came alive in the third period as East Palestine used a 13-8 advantage to pull away. Rutledge scored eight of her 14 points in the period. Kenzee Johnston led the Bulldogs with 16 points, making four of the Vikings’ eight 3-pointers. Joclyn Fristik added 15 points.

¯ LEETONIA 58, SEBRING 42: LEETONIA — The Bears put together a big run in the second and third quarters to pull away from Sebring in a Division IV sectional first round victory.

Leading 14-11 after 8 minutes, Leetonia outscored the Trojans, 34-15, to put the game out of reach. Haleigh Brock paced the Bears with 16 points, and Anna Buffone added 11 points. Taran Ferry scored nine points, made eight steals and dished out five assists. Sixth-seeded Leetonia plays at No. 3 Newton Falls at 1 p.m. Saturday in a sectional bracket final.

Emma Whaley scored a game-high 18 for Sebring.

¯ SOUTH RANGE 63, NILES 47: BEAVER TOWNSHIP — Chris Brooks had a game-high 22 points to lead the Raiders over the Red Dragons.

Dante Digaetano added 10 points for South Range (14-8).

Doug Fosters paced Niles (4-17) with 14 points.
