¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Spartans are a very young team with no seniors. Last season’s leading scorer, Maria Torres, is rehabbing an injury and they graduated three seniors, so expect some new faces. Boardman is excited to play a challenging schedule and compete. They aim to play fast on defense and under control on offense. Their motto is to “Play hard, play smart, and play together.”

WARREN G. HARDING

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Raiders look to continue building from a strong young squad last year. They have a strong leadership group and expect to have a promising season. The key to their success comes down to their ability to control the tempo and the progression of their younger players. Harding has a combination of speed and athleticism that they plan to use in an up-tempo defense. Depth will be a strength for the team and the season is expected to be a true test.

HOWLAND

The team has worked hard on individual improvement since the end of last season and now needs to work on playing together.

NILES

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: After losing six seniors from last season, the Red Dragons have a lot of open varsity spots. They are taking every day to prepare to get ready to compete in every game. Seven of the 14 players on the roster are new to the program and Niles is using that as motivation to get better and push themselves.

WEST BRANCH

There is a lot of talent on the team, but the key will be when the team meshes and who steps up as a leader. The coaches think this team could be special.

CARDINAL MOONEY

CRESTVIEW

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Rebels return a very experienced group, and are preparing themselves for the postseason with a very challenging schedule. In addition to a tough league, Crestview also will face tough challenges in the non-conference portion of its schedule. They expect to get better thoughout the season and compete.

LIBERTY

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Lakers return a solid nucleus back from last year’s team. They have a nice blend of size and speed. They expect to compete for the title again if they play great defense. A goal for Pymatuning Valley is to get the younger girls up to speed and contributing early.

LaBRAE

NEWTON FALLS

SPRINGFIELD

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: After graduating five seniors, the Tigers look forward to seeing who is ready to step up and fill those roles. Their freshman class is the largest they’ve had with eight newcomers. The girls will be somewhat inexperienced but are expected to be competitive due to their hard work. They hope to keep improving so they can make a run in the postseason.

COLUMBIANA

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Warriors have a difficult task in replacing Bailey Drapola, the school’s all-time leading scorer, but they have a young and competitive group that will work hard to try and fill that gap. There will be some bumps in the road due to being a smaller team than others, but the Warriors are expected to compete with everyone on the schedule.

BADGER

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Braves are a coachable team and are willing to play for one another. Their main objective is to remember that the season is a marathon and not a sprint. They want to continue growing together every game and every practice.

LEETONIA
