South Range, Poland, Niles take NE-8 titles, while McDivitt, Adler are medalists

WARREN — Not even a tiebreaker could separate the Niles and South Range boys golf teams in the Northeast-8 Conference championships Thursday at Trumbull Country Club, as the Red Dragons and Raiders shared the league title.

Both teams shot 355 and both fifth-player scores were 91.

Niles was led by Chris Loychik, who fired 87 to place seventh overall. Jacob Buttar and Dominic Fisher both shot 89s for the Red Dragons.

South Range was led by Gavin Batdorff’s 86 as Phillip Naples (89) and Garrett Sheets (90) added support.

Lakeview’s Jake McDivitt earned medalist honors with an 82 and Hubbard’s Aidan Schuler matched that mark.

In the girls championship match, Poland used its depth and balance to log 382 and beat Hubbard by seven strokes.

The Bulldogs had five of the top six scorers, behind medalist Jackie Adler of Hubbard, who carded n 87.

Carly Ungaro led Poland with a 90 and was followed by teammates Hannah Ogden (95), Kristen Shaw (98), Sophia Yurich (99) and Jackie Grisdale 100.

For Hubbard, Amanda Trinckes (102) and Noelle Trobek (104) supported Adler.
