Hubbard’s defense shuts down Shaw

HUBBARD 21, SHAW 0: A methodical running game and sturdy defense helped Hubbard post a home win to improve to 2-1.

The Eagles rushed for 207 of their 242 total yards and scored one touchdown in the first, third and fourth quarters. Quarterback Cam Resetar, who ran for 54 yards, tossed a 14-yard scoring strike to Tommy Wess to open the scoring. It was one of his three completions in nine attempts.

Jermia Haris led the Eagles with 75 yards rushing on 20 carries, including a 2-yard dive in the third quarter and Hubbard tacked on a 1-yard scoring run from T.C. Caffey in the final minutes of the contest. Caffey finished with 71 yards on 11 carries.

Defensively, Hubbard limited its guest to 156 total yards.

LOWELLVILLE 20, RICHMOND HEIGHTS 14: LOWELLVILLE — Vinny Kacier rushed 30 times for 253 yards and a score as the Rockets running back paced Lowellville over winless Richmond Heights.

Cole Bunofsky had five carries for 41 yards and two touchdowns for Lowellville (3-0).

The Rockets built a 14-0 lead in the third quarter before Richmond Heights (0-3) scored.

CHANEY 40, LIBERTY 0: LIBERTY — A balanced offense and a smothering defense powered Chaney to a shutout of Liberty in a non-league bout.

Delshawn Petrosky paced the Cowboys (2-1) one the ground — 71 yards rushing and one TD — and in the air — 9-of-24 for 182 yards and two TDs. Chaney held the Leopards (1-2) to just 71 total yards (zero passing).

Marquan Herron caught four passes for 82 yards and one TD, and Migel Burgess ran for 60 yards and a TD on four carries for the Cowboys.

Donte Venters paced Liberty with 34 yards on 21 carries.
