BASEBALL
Newton Falls 13, Liberty 0 (5 inn.) — The Tigers started the first two innings slow on the scoreboard but caught life in the rest of the game, plating 13 runs in three innings to earn the shutout win over the Leopards. Trevor Ruscoe dominated on the mound, striking out 10 while allowing two hits and zero walks. At the plate for Newton Falls, Ruscoe helped his cause with a pair of singles and RBIs while Michael Bennett doubled and drove in two runs. Clayton Bratton was given the loss in 4 2/3 innings, striking out three while allowing six hits and eight walks.
Lowellville 8, Campbell 0 — The one-two punch of Zak Sargent and Geno Perry on the mound for Lowellville combined to allow only one hit and toss a shutout in the Rockets’ win over the Red Devils. Sargent was credited as the winning pitcher, striking out six, walking nine and allowing the lone hit in six innings of work. At the plate, Perry doubled and singled while Liam Bartlett and Kasen Smith each collected a pair of singles. Pano Kolidakis was given the loss in 4 1/3 innings, striking out one, walking four and allowing six hits.
Maplewood 5, Mathews 0 — The Rockets shutout the Mustangs thanks to a strong performance by winning pitcher Gabe Erwin. Offensively for Maplewood, Logan tallied three hits.
Mineral Ridge 9, Waterloo 2 — The Rams’ offense and pitching staff put on standout performances as Mineral Ridge topped Waterloo. The 13-hit offense was headed by AJ Sandy with three hits and three stolen bases, Xavier Klamer had three hits and two swiped bags, Gavin Harding lent two hits and three stolen bases while a host of others lent a hit each. Klamer earned the win, tossing six innings in which he allowed three hits, five walks and picked up 13 strikeouts. Waterloo statistics were not submitted.
LaBrae 7, Heartland Christian 0 — The Vikings blanked the Lions thanks to a dominant outing on the mound by Austin Rowe and Owen Boone. Rowe picked up the win after two innings, collecting four strikeouts, walking none and allowing two hits. Rowe also helped his cause with a double, single and two RBIs, Nathan Goldner doubled and singled twice, Easton Armstrong doubled and singled and Lucas Glaser doubled in the win. Farrell was given the loss, striking out four, walking two and allowing 12 hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Ursuline 7, East Palestine 6 — The Irish led for nearly the whole game, but three Bulldogs’ runs in the seventh inning put East Palestine ahead. Ursuline answered back with two runs in the bottom of the frame to earn the walk-off win. Luke Kollar picked up the win in relief, throwing 2 2/3 innings while striking out five, walking one and allowing three hits. Anthony Triveri singled twice and drove in two runs to lead Ursuline while Rowan Urbach doubled and CJ Snyder singled twice. Moraski was given the loss for East Palestine, throwing 6 1/3 innings while striking out eight, walking three and allowing eight hits. At the plate, Moraski and Robb each doubled in the loss.
Girard 4, Poland 3 — The Indians fell behind 3-1 and posted three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn the walk-off win over the Bulldogs. Dom Tolone handled pitching duties and earned the complete-game win, fanning seven while walking three and allowing three hits. At the dish, Will Hynes singled twice, Zach Ward doubled and drove in two runs and Camron Herrick doubled and singled. Jacob Hayes was given the loss, throwing seven innings while fanning three, walking four and allowing seven hits.
Crestview 3, Garfield 2 — After the G-Men knotted the game at two with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth, the Rebels answered with a run to edge out Garfield. The pitcher’s duel was won by Braden Devine, throwing a complete game, giving up four hits, striking out six and walking one. Offensively, Kyle Booth tallied three hits and swiped two bases. Warnick was given the complete-game loss, scattering five hits, fanning eight and walking two.
Lakeview 13, Niles 2 (5 inn.) — The Bulldogs opened the scoring with two runs to start the game and never looked back, plating five in the second and six more in the following inning to topple the Red Dragons. At the plate for Lakeview, Carter Doran doubled twice and drove in five runs, Nathan Paolucci lent a double, single and drove in three runs and Jacob Shaker doubled twice. Paolucci picked up the win in three innings, striking out four, walking one and allowing three hits. AJ Yost picked up a pair of singles for Niles in the loss. Connor Duncan was given the loss in 2 1/3 innings, striking out one, walking two and surrendering nine hits.
Bristol 8, Cardinal 4 — The Panthers took the lead with three runs in the top of the fourth inning and kept it to topple the Huskies. Diesel Williams earned the win in five innings, striking out three, walking none and allowing six hits. At the dish, Kaiden Kohler doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs while Ronald Imhoss had a pair of singles and RBIs. Jones was given the loss for Cardinal, throwing 5 2/3 innings while striking out four, walking five and allowing five hits. Offensively in the loss, Jones had a trio of singles and RBIs while Solitis doubled and singled.
Boardman 11, Warren JFK 1 — Collin Resetar tossed a no-hitter in the Spartans throttling of the Eagles. The starter walked one and struck out three in the win for Boardman. At the plate, Kaden Mayhew, Grayson Eicher and Landon Whippo each collected a pair of hits for Boardman with Eicher driving in three runs. Taggart Carfangia was given the loss after three innings, surrendering eight hits, walking four and striking out two.
SOFTBALL
Bristol 18, Windham 3 — On senior night, the Panthers pummeled the Bombers thanks to a smattering of Bristol hits. Leading the way offensively was Mycie Workman with four hits and two RBIs, Ellie Anderson doubled twice, singled and drove in three runs and Kaylee Burns had three singles and RBIs for Bristol.
Columbiana 21, Southern 1 (5 inn.) — The Clippers drilled 25 hits in the dismantling of the Indians. Leading the hit parade was Maryn Hepler with a triple, two doubles and a single, Ella Dota lent two singles, Caitlynn Pleska belted a pair of home runs, two singled and a game-high nine RBIs, Addison Brode doubled and singled three times, Cameron Perkins doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Alivia Bell singled twice and drove in four runs, Anna Yonker singled twice and Landry Smith had a trio of singles and two RBIs. Pleska also earned the win in four innings, striking out six, walking two and allowing two hits. In the loss, Makenna Jones and Kennedy Lewis each doubled. Addy Martin threw all five innings for Southern, walking two while striking out none and surrendering 25 hits.
Poland 17, Niles 1 (5 inn.) — Eight runs in to open the contest set the tone early for the Bulldogs in the crushing win over the Red Dragons. Leading the 12-hit offense was Leanna Boccieri with a double and single, Lillian McDonald drove in two runs, Kylee Hudran singled twice, Sydney Bulick belted a home run, singled and drove in three runs and Destanee Warren lent a pair of singles. McDonald also earned the win with two perfect innings in the circle while striking out five. In the loss, Abby Noland tripled. Airiana Jones was given the loss in 2 1/3 innings, striking out one while walking 10 and allowing nine hits.
Badger 9, Grand Valley 6 — Despite falling early, the Braves knotted the game with two runs in the fourth inning and took the lead a frame later with three runs and never relented to topple the Mustangs. Samantha Bradbury picked up the complete-game win in the circle, fanning 11 while allowing four walks and 11 hits. At the plate in the loss, Riley Thomas and Sarah Miller each doubled and singled, Autumn Yesko singled twice and Skylar Demarco doubled twice and drove in four runs. Natilly Hostetler also tossed a complete game for Grand Valley in the loss, striking out seven while walking five and allowing 12 hits. The Mustangs’ bats were charged by Kaityln Baumann and Maddie Lowry-Stark with a pair of singles each, Ady Kovacic and Jenna Poyer both drove in two runs and Breanna Rowland drilled four singles.
South Range 7, Hubbard 1 — The Raiders scored in all but one inning and kept the Eagles’ bats at bay to pick up the win. Rupart was given the win for South Range, striking out eight, walking none and allowing five hits in a complete game. At the plate, Wilt and Pauline each singled twice and drove in two runs while Bartels and DeJesus each had a double. Taylor was given the loss for Hubbard in four innings, striking out two, walking three and allowing four hits. Offensively for Hubbard, Songer doubled and singled.
Lakeview 15, Struthers 0 (5 inn.) — The Bulldogs plated five runs to open the game and it was smooth sailing from there as Lakeview pummeled Struthers. The Lakeview hit parade was led by Kalyssa Werner with a double and two singles, Jianna Shaker belted a solo home run, Mackenzie Stowe tripled twice, doubled and drove in four runs, Abby Waldo doubled, Linnea Kovac doubled and drove in two runs, Annaliese Dejulio had a trio of singles, Sienna Terry drove in a pair of runs while Rylee Barnot lent a double. Ava Bacon picked up the shutout win, fanning seven while allowing one free pass and four hits in five innings. Giavanna Smiley doubled for Struthers in the loss. Brooklyn Davis allowed 16 hits, walked one and struck out none in the circle for Struthers.
Mathews 4, Maplewood 2 — The Mustangs plated a run in each of the first four innings to claim the win over the Rockets. In the circle, Olivia Matheny picked up the win, collecting eight strikeouts while allowing a walk and four hits in five innings. Offensively, Matheny doubled, Kennedy Newsom doubled and singled and Maddy Hufford doubled, singled and drove in three runs. Addison Marker was given the loss for Maplewood in seven innings, fanning six, walking five and allowing six hits.
Mineral Ridge 8, Waterloo 1 — The Rams’ bats were red hot in the win over the Vikings, tallying 10 hits and scoring all their runs in the first four innings. Leading the way offensively was Savannah Turek with a double, two singles and two RBIs while seven other Mineral Ridge batters lent singles. Lily Merolillo picked up the win in five innings, scattering five hits and fanning six. Waterloo statistics were not submitted.
Fitch 7, Howland 4 — The Falcons took the lead with a run in the fourth and added three insurance runs in the latter innings to top the Tigers. Fitch was headed at the plate by Kaliana Ray with a double and single, Alyssa Rodgers tripled and drove in two runs and Morgan Roby lent two singles and drove in three runs. Tori Greathouse picked up the win, throwing 4 1/3 innings and allowing six hits, five walks and striking out none. In the loss, Brianna Deeter singled twice and Tabitha Schlatt doubled, singled and had two RIBs, Maya Kubancsek was tagged with the loss in 1 2/3 innings, allowing six walks and one hit while striking out none.
LaBrae 13, McDonald 3 — A smattering of Vikings lent two or more hits in the LaBrae win over the Blue Devils. Leading the charge offensively was Riley Rowe with a home run, two doubles and a single, Shelby Bragg lent four singles and three RBIs, Leah DeArmitt tallied three singles, Morgan Thompson doubled, singled and drove in four runs, Vada Allen had a pair of doubles and RBIs and Madison Johnson doubled. Rowe also picked up the win in the circle, tossing a complete game while striking out 10, walking five and allowing six hits. In the loss, Gianna Mancini singled twice and was given the loss in the circle, throwing seven innings while fanning nine, walking none and scattering 16 hits.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Cardinal Mooney 15, Green 2 — The Cardinals dominated thanks to a handful of players finding the back of the net. Mooney was paced by Lexi Italiano and Sophia Rotunno with four goals each, Leah Hudak scored twice and had a pair of assists, Natalie Plasko scored and lent an assist while Gabby Hardaway, Arianna Stamp, Molly Simons and Stella Sardich each scored as well. Goalie Ava Weeks tallied nine saves in the win.
