Denny Malloy has earned our loyalty
DEAR EDITOR:
An individual wrote a recent letter to the editor, “New officials must learn loyalty is earned.” It detailed what the writer called “the truth,” regarding division in the Trumbull County GOP. Instead of citing facts, the individual perpetrated lies. Allow me to give you the real picture of what has happened.
Regarding the Lincoln Day Dinner, representatives from the Malloy campaign were present. Party officers should remember this event, as they removed signs for Malloy out of the area where others were placed, and instead hid them below a coat rack. An individual who was tasked with running the dinner pulled me outside and told me that she didn’t like Denny Malloy because he was “divisive,” completely disregarding the fact that he bought a ticket but could not attend. The party still gained financially from his contribution. A similar situation is true regarding the Reagan Day Barbecue.
In fact, I handed Trumbull County Republican Party Chairman Mike Bollas money in his driveway specifically for the purchase of a ticket to this event on behalf of the campaign. Denny Malloy was doing his job, but still wanted the party to benefit, so he bought a ticket. Once again, those who attack him fail to mention the money he’s provided.
The drama of the Republican Party in Trumbull County isn’t relevant to how Denny Malloy will execute his duties as a newly elected commissioner. I normally believe we should unite, but since individuals refuse to move on, I felt the need to make the facts clear.
I am speaking for myself, and the 36,042 individuals who voted for Denny Malloy, when I say that he has earned our loyalty and respect.
