MetroParks board misplaces its priorities
DEAR EDITOR:
I was quite disappointed to see the Mill Creek MetroParks board of commissioners reject the request of the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society to maintain the pond located at the McGuffey Wildlife Preserve. After all, that task is no different than maintaining the Lily Pond, and the tax dollars paid by the residents of Coitsville and the society should be treated with the same reverence as every other tax dollar.
Perhaps if the board redirected its efforts and funds from controversial eminent domain actions and defend the park waterways from the dumping of raw sewage, the citizens of Mahoning County would feel that their
tax money was directed toward the true intent of the park’s founder.
Rest in peace, Volney Rogers!
