DEAR EDITOR:

I have not received my tax refund yet for 2021. I lost my job and my husband, probably due to COVID-19, on Jan. 24, 2021. I have called the IRS on numerous times and also my tax preparer for my federal and state taxes. First, when you are finally able to get in touch with a real person they say, “Yes we received your tax return in March of 2021 and we are processing it and should arrive in 60 days.” That proved to be a lie. I still have not received my federal income tax refund.

I did get the state income tax response, however. When I call my tax preparer in Boardman, they said many people are calling in just like me to ask why is it taking so long?

I thought if I notified this newspaper, many folks could finally get some type of response from the federal IRS or those in charge might at least address this major delay.
