DEAR EDITOR:

The first 90 days of 2021 have been a turbulent one for Dodge City (Youngstown).

Six homicides already this year, the mayor and chief of

police are calling for calm and moving to take guns off the street. This is the wrong direction.

Take the people who pull the triggers off the street, not the guns.

The administration and law enforcement along with religious leaders have asked for the public to get involved. Those who want to make a difference must take action to help police identify and bring to justice these shooters and stop the senseless killing of our young people. However, the people must step through the “Curtain of Silence” and be willing to help make this happen. Police and community leaders can only do so much; the rest must come from the people. This is the meaning of coming together and making a difference.
