Legitimate press brings Trump back to reality

DEAR EDITOR:

Leadership and staff of the Tribune Chronicle are understandably proud of never having lost money as a business — increasingly rare for a newspaper in this electronic communications age. If ever you find yourself between a financial rock and readership hard place though, I hope you drop Cal Thomas. The two cents of value I think he adds is dwarfed by whatever his syndication fee is, even if he’s paid in negative value barrels of Trump crude oil, or crude Trump oil or Total Authority Lube as he would brand it.

I can agree with Thomas that journalists should stick to who, what, when, where, why and how factual reporting and leave the overwrought spinning to the infotainers of Fox and Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh and other non-journalist hacks who never meet a fact they can’t bend to Trump’s will and policy du jour.

However, when Trump behaves as a willfully ignorant, tantrum-throwing tweener, who demands praise for doing nothing or worse, the wrong thing while knowing his behavior can have life or death consequences, then I applaud the legitimate press for hauling him back to reality.
