Walter P. Kaszowski 1932-2025
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Walter P. Kaszowski, 93, passed away peacefully on his birthday, Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at Pittsburgh VA Medical Center.
Walter was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Masury, a son of Walter and Gertrude E. Dawson Kaszowski.
He was a graduate of Brookfield High School.
He was a press operator at Republic Rubber, worked at Buckeye Tack in Hubbard and later worked as owner / operator of the Amoco Gas Station in New Wilmington, Pa. He also worked for Tropicana Orange Juice and Blue Grass Trucking in Florida, and was a supervisor over press machines at Pitco Industries.
Walter was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a life member of VFW 3307 Albert Street and a life member of American Legion 235 in Girard.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, and listening to polka music.
His wife, the former Norma J. Landis, whom he married Aug. 9, 1952, passed away May 29, 1994.
Walter will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his children, Judy Minner of Youngstown, Cindy (John) Schneider of Youngstown, Thomas (Diane) Kaszowski of Warren, Amy (Timothy) Cover of Athens, Tennessee, Tina Kunkle of New Castle, Pa., Andrew (Jodi) Kaszowski of New Castle, Pa., and Tammy (Greg) Kalail of Akron; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He also leaves his brother, Ronald (Judy) Kaszowski of Masury; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Judy Landis, Jane Williams, Patricia Draves, Carol Landis, Linda and Tom Toth, and Sandra Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; fiance, Lois Olson, who passed Dec. 23, 2002; brothers, James, Frank, Kenneth and Richard; an infant sister; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doris and John McClymonds, Walter (Sonny) Landis, Edward Williams, Herman Draves, Leslie Landis, Joan and Frank Blackburn, Donald Landis and Allen Taylor.
Special thanks to longtime neighbors, Levi and Emma Byler and their family, for their many years of friendship, care and support.
There will be services 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, with calling hours 5 to 7 p.m., at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Walter will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hubbard with military honors.
