Ann Freeman 1930-2024

Together again

GIRARD — Ann Freeman, 93, passed away peacefully, Wednesday afternoon, July 24, 2024, at Liberty HealthCare.

Ann was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Alex and Mary Mamrycz Demetruk, and was a lifelong area resident.

A proud graduate of Girard High School, Class of 1948, Ann was deeply connected to her community. She was a familiar face at the former Dale Cleaners, where she worked for many years before retiring in 1995. Her dedication to her work was paralleled by her active involvement in various social and community activities.

Mrs. Freeman was a member of St. Rose Church and an enthusiastic participant in many social clubs. She enjoyed playing cards, taking casino trips with “the girls,” and was actively involved in bowling leagues at North Side Lanes and Kay Lanes. Additionally, Ann was a proud member of TOPS #OH1262 McDonald chapter. Her passion for gardening was well known, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Ann is survived by her children, David (Phyllis) Freeman of Hubbard, Sandra Freeman, William R. Freeman Jr. and Barbara Freeman, each of Girard; two grandsons, John (Brenda) Freeman and William A. Freeman, both of Girard; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and John Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her husband of 69 years, William R. Freeman, whom she married Nov. 19, 1949, passed away July 14, 2018.

Her eldest son, Robert M. Freeman; four brothers, Alex, Stephen, John and Paul Demetruk; and a sister, Sophia Mattson, also preceded Ann in death.

Family and friends may call noon to 1 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard, where a funeral service will take place at 1 p.m.

Interment will follow in Belmont Park Cemetery, where Ann will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
