Michael P. Scialabba 1948-2024
BOARDMAN — Michael Peter Scialabba, 75, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Michael was born in Sharpsburg, Pa., on April 1, 1948, to the late Peter D. Scialabba and Charlotte Fair Scialabba. Growing up, he worked in his family’s restaurant, Bleuming’s, before graduating from North Catholic High School. Michael attended Youngstown State University, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Delta fraternity and graduated in 1970 with a business degree.
After graduation, he worked as an insurance agent for several years before establishing a long and successful career in car sales at several area dealerships. At work, he was known by the nickname “The Hat.”
Micheal enjoyed hanging out with his wife and sons, watching Steelers football, Pirates baseball and all televised sports, making friendly wagers, and playing poker and golf. He regularly attended gatherings with his college fraternity brothers. He loved hosting family holidays and over-feeding people. He was an enthusiastic meal planner and cook.
Michael was the devoted husband of 23 years to Janet Urban Scialabba of Boardman; and the proud father of two sons, Michael A. Scialabba and David M. Scialabba of Girard.
In addition to his wife and sons, Michael leaves a brother and sister-in-law, David G. Scialabba and Sally Scialabba of Oyster Bay, New York; and their children, Katherine and Peter; stepdaughter, Julie Cancio Harper and her husband, Eric, of Boardman; and stepdaughter, Jennifer Cancio of Youngstown. Michael was previously married to Karen Scialabba of Girard, who is the mother of his sons. Michael and Karen remained friends.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Peter Scialabba; his aunt, Geraldine Fair DeLuca; and his beloved Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Vito.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30 to 10:25 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
There will be a prayer service held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Boardman, with Father Steve Zeigler as celebrant.
