Carol A. Honthy 1946-2023

CANFIELD — Carol A. Honthy was a cherished wife, beloved mother, wonderful grandmother, and lifelong area resident who found strength and serenity in her spirituality. Carol entered into eternal rest at the age of 76, after a battle with cancer on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 24, 1946, in Youngstown, the daughter of Stephen and Anna Prochernia Majzun.

A graduate of Struthers High School, Carol had worked as a beautician, before dedicating her life to caring for her ten children. An incredible homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and reading.

She leaves an incredible mark on the world which words cannot express but which were seen in her deep empathy and love for her family.

Fond memories of Carol live on with her children: Suzanne Troll (Charles) of Somerset, Pa., Joseph Honthy, (Laureen) of Lebanon, Christine Frenzel (Erik) of Youngstown, Stephen Honthy (Dawn) of Newton, N.J., Timothy Honthy of Canfield, Gregory Honthy of Salem, Scott Honthy of Poland, Jennifer Pugh (David) of Girard, Heidi Marciniak (Daniel) of Canfield, and Jonathan Honthy of Canfield; 38 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her cat, Spooky.

Her devotion to her children instilled a love for others above self, and virtues of strength and integrity.

Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 34 years, Lee Honthy, whom she married on Oct. 21, 1967 and who passed on Aug. 24, 2002. Also preceding her in death was her grandson, Jeremiah Honthy, her parents; and two brothers, Richard and James Majzun.

Calling hours are 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at St. Christine Catholic Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44511.

The Funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. at the church, with Fr. John Jerek officiating.

Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
