Charlotte Williams 1957-2021

YOUNGSTOWN — Charlotte Williams was born June 14, 1957, in Youngstown. After becoming ill, she was admitted to Liberty Healthcare Facility in February 2020. During her stay, she survived COVID-19 twice, and passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at the age of 64, due to complications of long haulers syndrome.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Tommie Dale McDowell of Youngstown; her siblings, Clarence Latheral “CL” McDowell and Sheri Louise Wallace; and her longtime mate, William Dresher.

She leaves behind the love of her life, whom she married twice, Philip Williams; and their son, Le Twan Robert Williams and his fiancee, Anissa Acoff. She also leaves behind her brothers, James Parker Sr. and Kenneth V. McDowell; sister, Toni Dee Brown; her last remaining aunt, JoAnne McDowell; and a host of nieces and nephews, four generations beyond. There was another who comforted and helped Charlotte at Liberty Healthcare Facility when her voice was too small to be heard. We thank you Mrs. Ruth Turner!

From birth, Charlotte was not to be denied what she wanted to do. As a child, she was at her mother’s side in the backyard, learning how to plant and harvest food for canning. She began watching and learning how to make all of the family’s Sunday favorites. Wanting to strike out on her own, Charlotte attended school and became a skilled chef in the style of old school. She easily began to add the flavors and dishes from around the world into her Sunday meals. She cooked for the joy of cooking, or upon request, and wrote her recipes down for her cookbook.

Charlotte lived life to the fullest, her way and her rules, leaving those in her circle laughing with tears. She loved music and played the drums with local bands, laughing and singing the whole time. We will miss the joy of her laughter and the warmth of her smile. In her words to all, “Nothing but Love, ” never good-bye, until later…

A virtual service will be held by the family.
